June 23 - Pentecost Sunday

The children and youth presented a dramatic reading for Pentecost.  How the Holy Spirit changed the disciple Peter!  On Good Friday he denied Jesus (note the rooster sound effect on the left) but on Pentecost and afterwards he spoke out boldly.

Four youth were confirmed at the morning worship service.

The pastor introduces and questions the youth to be confirmed.

Each youth kneels for confirmation.

After the church service, visiting UMW members from the USA meet with the youth and the pastor.

June 18 - a day in Skopje, the capital

Lee and I spent the day in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, visiting some sights we hadn't seen before.

First, we took the cable car to the top of Mt Vodno.

Then we visited the Skopje Aquaduct - 16th century, perhaps earlier.

Next stop: Scupi archaeological site

From Wikipedia: "A Roman military camp was founded here in the second century BC on the site of an older Dardanian settlement.... A Roman town was founded in the time of Domitian (AD 81-96) and Scupi became the chief center for romanizing Dardania. It was abandoned in AD 518 after an earthquake completely destroyed the city.

June 15 - Making banners at Saturday class

The children made banners by cutting shapes out of contact paper and sticking them onto sheets of vinyl. They liked the bright colors and we practiced writing English.

Vaska cuts pieces for her banner.

Blagica practices her English, writing a caption on her banner.
